Owning your own business can give you a whole new sense of freedom. It allows you to work from where you want, set your own hours and even travel the world if you want to. However, things are not always as glamorous as they might seem. Traveling while running your business can be fun, but it takes a lot of work. When Abby moved out of the States with her husband after college, she quickly realized that the traditional 9 to 5 might not be an option for her. I am so excited to share Abby’s amazing story and how she is able to be her own boss and still travel and live in the most amazing places in the world.
When You Are A Business Owner And An Introvert:
Running a business usually means that you will have to interact with all types of people. Whether it’s clients, other business owners, vendors or just the general public, it can be intimidating for someone who is an introvert. Abbie shared that she struggled with being an introvert and a business owner. It can be hard when you feel like your personality works against you when trying to grow your business. However, Abbie also shared that she felt that the lifestyle of a business owner actually worked to her advantage. She didn’t have to be souped up in an office, she was able to create her own environment and she didn’t have to constantly be around people. So, don’t get down if you feel like your personality isn’t what a business owner “should” be. The great thing is we are redefining how an entrepreneur should act and interact with the world. You can make it work for you no matter if you’re an introvert or extrovert.
Get Inspired By The World Around You:
Abbie has been able to work form some of the most beautiful and interesting places in the world. She started to notice that her work was inspired by the places she traveled to. I love this because I believe our surroundings and where we live can be great inspiration. Even if you don’t live in Italy or Sweden, you can still find inspiration from the world around you. Take a walk, visit a new part of town or get involved with local events. See what inspires you!
Creating A Consistent Workspace For Yourself Anywhere You Go:
When you travel al the time, this can be difficult. It’s hard to be productive when your surrounding is always changing and you never have a stable workspace. Abbie came across this issue and she found that bringing small items like prints, plants, candles or even artwork that makes anywhere feel like your space.
