FAMILY. FREEDOM. HAPPINESS These are the three things Johanne Holman had on her vision board when she decided to take the leap and launch not one, but two business. After finally handing in her notice at her corporate job, she decided it was time to finally pursue the dreams she had been holding on to for years. In this episode, Johanne and I talk all about launching two very different business at the same time, how being a business owner has helped her on her journey to self-love and how it’s never too late to make your dreams a reality. I can’t wait to she Johanne’s amazing story with you, and I know she will inspire you as much as she did me.
Everyone Deals With Self Doubt:
Trust, me you are not alone in this. Everyone deals with doubt, fear, and uncertainty. It’s just a part of being a business owner. I always tell myself that if I’m not feeling a little freaked out, then I’m not pushing myself enough. That fear can help motivate you but it can also get out of hand and take you down a dark path of self-destruction. Johanne talks about how she struggled with this and how she didn’t even want to be in photos because she didn’t want to be seen. She was telling herself that she wasn’t doing enough and that she couldn’t do the things she saw others around her doing. As she put it, this past year has been one of self-discovery and a journey to self-love. It takes time. It takes work. But in the end, it’s essential to love and respect yourself in order to run a successful business. There is no cure-all and there is no overnight fix, but sometimes it helps to just know that you’re not the only one going through it.
Mom Guilt:
I’m not a mom myself but I have talked to countless women who are business owners and who are moms and one overarching theme is guilt. Guilt that they had to leave their children to go to their 9 to 5 each day, guilt that they spent so much time building their business and not with their kids, guilt over the fact that they were splitting their time between their business, their job, and their family. This can be such a hard topic and since I haven’t gone through it personally, I’ll let Johanne’s experience speak for itself. Even though she loved her job, she felt guilty leaving her kids each day. She didn’t want to miss those milestones, those special moments that you miss if you are at work all day. She has loved the freedom that being her own boss has given her and she feels that she can be the mom that she has always wanted to be. Now, this will vary for each mom and each family. But if this sounds like you, if you’re feeling that guilt, my audience (and I’m sure Johanne’s advice) would be to give yourself a little grace. we can have it all, it’s just about finding a balance that works for you and your family.
It’s Never Too Late To Follow Your Dreams:
Johanne spent a lot of time working other jobs (even ones she loved) and following different paths in her life. She always had the dream of being an entrepreneur in the back of her mind but kept getting pulled in other directions. Finally, she knew it was time and took the leap. It doesn’t matter your age, it doesn’t matter if you’ve spent your whole life in corporate, it doesn’t matter if you never thought you’d be an entrepreneur. It’s never too late to go for it and there are so many amazing examples out there like Johanne to look up to.

A few kind words from Johanne…
“Hi Katie, In two very simple, but heartfelt words ‘THANK YOU!’.I am so grateful for this opportunity, it was most enjoyable, and certainly a great learning for me. This year, as I probably mentioned, has been a year of serious growth and development for me, and something like a podcast I had always seen as beyond me, and something that I was actually quite nervous of, but thanks to you, you’ve helped me push through yet another comfort zone, and to help me grow in confidence.”
