If you’re anything like me, you love stylish clothes, beautiful home decor, great food and traveling to exciting places…but let’s face it, these things can start to add up. We all don’t have Kim Kardashian sized budgets but does that mean we have to give up on having those amazing products, items, and experiences?
Carlee, the founder and Editor-In-Chief at Styled to Sparkle doesn’t think so. Carlee and her team understand that you don’t always have the time to research the latest travel destinations, or what’s new in fashion, beauty or interior design. Whether it’s a new moisturizer, choosing a pair of boots, a gift for your sister, the right bottle of wine to bring to a dinner party, or the perfect getaway, they try to give you everything that you need to know in one place. In this episode, Carlee and I talk all about using Pinterest for your business, the ins and out of being a full-time blogger and how you can still have it all when you have champagne taste on a prosecco budget.
As a blogger, it’s important to know your audience:
When Carlee was trying to grow her readership, she tried multiple different ways to market her blog. She tried Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and more. However, she began to realize that her audience wasn’t necessarily on all of these platforms looking for content. For example, Instagram is great for beautiful imagery, however, people can’t click through to your blog (unless you leave a link in your bio). Pinterest was a much better option because people were on the platform looking for specific things, the pins are SEO driven, and people could click right through to her blog! So, it’s important to understand which platforms work best for your business when you are planning your marketing strategy.
As an editor, you can still highlight you writer’s individual voices but keep a consistent brand voice:
Carlee has expanded Styled to Sparkle to allow other writers to contribute content on the blog. With multiple voices sharing content, it can sometimes be difficult to keep your brand voice consistent across all of the articles. As an editor, Carlee avoids this problem by creating a formatting template that she uses for each article. That way, she is still able to highlight her individual writers, but the piece still looks like it belongs to the Styled To Sparkle Brand. She also manages all of the posts that promote each article. So, each time someone comes across a post on social media, the voice sounds the same and looks on brand.
If you’re a blogger, don’t be afraid to expand your reach with new platforms!
Carlee has done an amazing job of building Styled To Sparkle and decided that she wanted to start expanding her reach! She delved into a Youtube channel and a podcast so that she was able to share more content and reach new audiences. Carlee knew that not everyone has time to sit down and read a full article, so her podcast and Youtube channel is a great way to reach those people who have less free time and want content on the go.
