From IT project manager to owning a craft shop to becoming a social media guru, Louise has had her fair share of changes over the course of her business journey. For those of you out there who have been struggling with social media, agonizing over how many times to post, or just feel overwhelmed by the whole social media thing in general, this episode is for you. Louise drops some serious knowledge about how you can manage your social media in a more effective way that won’t make you want to throw your computer at the wall.
There are so many platforms to choose from…where do I start?
These days, there are so many platforms and lines of communication available to us that it can feel totally overwhelming as a business owner. You have to choose which platforms you want to post on, how many times a week, what to post, who to follow…it’s a lot. One mistake that I see a lot is business trying to do them all. That not only is super time consuming, but it’s really difficult to do them all and do them all well. Louise suggests that to start, just choose two platforms to focus on.
How often should I post?:
Louise recently got accredited by Facebook as a trainer and she shared that posting on Facebook 3 times a week is enough. For all of you out there posting every day or multiple times a day, you can take a break!
The dreaded Instagram Algorithm:
Raise your hand if you’ve almost deleted Instagram out of sheer frustration? I know I have. It’s infuriating when you feel like you’re doing everything right and you’re still not getting the results you want. Well, Louise has a few tips that you can implement that she says will change your whole Instagram game:
1. Engage people with asking a question at the end of your caption
2. Put your hashtags in your first comment, not your caption within 3 seconds of posting your image
3. Stop worrying so much about the numbers- it’s better to have a smaller, engaged community then tons of random followers. Leave guide comments- not emojis
