The online parenting world is huge these days. There are millions of mommy blogs, parenting youtube channels and basically, a website for anything you could think of that has to do with raising children. When Andrea became a parent, she felt like she just couldn’t find any resources that spoke to her. She did notice, however, the pressure, judgment, and guilt of the online parenting space. That’s when she knew that she wanted to make a change and create a better community for new moms. Selfies to Selfless is all about giving reliable and applicable information along with a dose of reality about what life is like being a new mom.
Use whatever time you have wisely:
Let’s face it, we’re all busy. We are all juggling multiple obligations and commitments and sometimes it really just feels like there isn’t enough time in the day to get things done. Not only is Andrea a blogger and a mom but she also works a full-time job. So she has really had to work at managing her time in a smart and efficient way. That means getting work done on weekends, nap time when her kids go to bed…basically any spare time she utilizes so that she can achieve everything she wants to each day. This skill is not something that comes naturally. It’s really easy to let valuable spare time slip away. Practice looking at any available time, whether it’s an hour or 10 minutes, as space for you to get something done. Even if you’re working in small 10 or 15 minute increments throughout the day, you’ll be surprised how much you get done!

Let your readers know what they are going to get early:
Andrea’s hilarious and relatable tag line “Being a mom is hard AF” caught my eye immediately when I visited her site. Not only did it make me laugh, but it gave me some insight into Andrea’s voice and the type of content she is sharing on her blog. It’s fun, down to earth and doesn’t take itself too seriously. That small addition of a tagline can make a huge difference in setting the tone of your blog and giving your readers a preview of who you are. It doesn’t have to be flashy or something that you agonize over, but it’s a good way to add a little more personality to your reader’s first impression.
Top Tips for bloggers who want to be featured in other publications:
Add value: follow what that publication is doing and pay attention to the type of content they are sharing and featuring. You then can find a way that you can contribute in a way that will be valuable to them and will fit their message and brand. Engage with that publication: Follow them on social media, share posts, comment on other posts and show them that you are an engaged reader as well as someone who is interested in contributing. Make connections: Make an effort to really connect with the publication in a way that’s not all about you but all about how you can serve them. Send a quick email about a post that really spoke to you or share out their content on your social media.
